Hundreds of visitors arrived in Dorset yesterday as the seventh cruise ship arrival of the season sailed in to Portland Port.
American cruise ship Marina docked in the port yesterday, bringing 1,258 passengers to Portland. This is the first time the Marina has come to the isle this year but the ship will be returning to Portland again on August 8.German cruise ship Artania is the next one in on June 1.
Last month the port saw the inaugural visit of Norwegian Cruise Line’s, Norwegian Breakaway – the longest and heaviest ship to dock at Portland Port and accommodating in excess of 4,000 passengers.
The first ship of the 2018 season earlier was the 20th visit by a Phoenix Reisen vessel.
Portland Port’s cruise season this year is set to be a record breaker with the greatest number of cruise calls and passengers to date.
Overall this year the port is expecting to handle 32 cruise ships bringing nearly 39,000 passengers into Portland
