NETWORKING EVENT

The Dorset CCG Patient Participation Group (PPGs) is hosting a networking event.

It will be held at the Dorford Centre from 2pm until 4.30pm on Thursday, May 24.

This event aims to showcase the positive work PPGs are doing with their GP practices.

Everyone is welcome.

CRAFT ACADEMY

Half term craft academy will be held at Dorset County Museum.

It will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday, May 30.

Children aged five to 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

LOOKING AT HISTORY

Rob Curtis will be giving a talk at the Dorford Centre on behalf of the Dorchester Association for Research into local History and Archaeology.

It is entitled 'Turnpikes and Dorset's Coaching Days'.

It will start at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 31 and everyone is welcome on Thursday, May 31.

HARDY AND HIS FANS

Helen Angear will be giving a talk at Dorset County Museum from 7pm.

The talk will be on Thomas Hardy and his fans on Thursday, May 31.

BIODIVERSITY DAY

A biodiversity day has been organised at Hardy's Cottage.

Visitors are invited to come along and meet the volunteer team of ecologists who will be setting up moth traps to collect date about the variety of species that can be found in Hardy's garden.

Booking is not needed and the event will run from 11am until 3pm on Friday, June 1.

INSPIRING POETRY

Members of the New Hardy Players will be reading inspiring seasonal poetry by Thomas Hardy and other associated writers.

The event has been organised by the National Trust and will run from 3pm until 4pm at Max Gate on Thursday, June 7.

SUMMER WALK

A summer walk has been organised to support Home-Start West Dorset.

The walk will take participants from Dorchester's Maiden Castle to Martinstown, and back.

Those interested should meet at Maiden Castle car park at 1.15pm, for a prompt 1.30pm start.

The leisurely walk will cover approximately 6.5km and take just over an hour and a half.

The walk is also family and doggy friendly - but not suitable for pushchairs.

It will be held on Sunday, June 10.

TUNEFUL STORIES

Tim Laycock will be bringing Hardy's home to life with music and stories.

There will be three performances, each lasting approximately 25 minutes, taking place in the drawing room.

Seating is limited and as there is no booking, it will be on a first come, first served basis.

The event will be held at Max Gate on Tuesday, June 12. The three performances will be between 1pm and 4pm.

ROMEO AND JULIET

A unique cycling theatre will be returning to Maumbury Rings with its 'seriously silly' production of Romeo and Juliet.

The HandleBards all-female group will be coming to the town on Sunday, June 3 from 7.30pm.

The event will be supporting Dorchester Arts.

FILM SHOWING

THE Dorset Palestinian Israeli Peace Group will be showing the acclaimed film Lemontree on Wednesday, June 20.

The film will be show at the Dorford Centre, starting at 7pm.

There will also be refreshments on sale.

DIABETES QUESTIONS

Do you have questions about diabetes?

A group meeting is being held the Dorford Centre on Thursday, June 14 from 7pm until 9pm.

Everyone is encouraged to come along and ask the clinicians about diabetes.

POETRY THROUGH PICTURES

Enjoy learning about Hardy’s poetry through pictures at Dorset County Museum.

The exhibition will run at the museum from Monday, May 14 until Tuesday, May 29 and is by Jennifer Martindale.

FUN DAY

A fundraising event is being held in Poundbury to support Dorchester Community Nursery School.

The Fun Day will be held on Saturday, July 7 from 12pm until 8pm on The Great Field.

There will be a host of stalls, a bouncy castle, rides and attractions, live music, a friendly football tournament, a dog show, food and drink and much more.

WARM FESTIVAL

The Warm Festival, supporting Steve Charles Help A Friend Fund, will be returning to the Borough Gardens this summer.

As always there will be music, food stalls, a raffle and a bar and everyone is welcome.

Organisers are looking for stalls from arts and craft groups as well as sponsors and performers for the event.
