Dozens of firefighters tackled a large fire at Puddletown Forest yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said they were called to the blaze just after 4pm.
Four fire engines were sent to the scene from Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport.
Three landrovers from Maiden Newton, Blandford and Bere Regis also provided support.
Around a hectare of the forest, which lies next to the A35 bypass, was alight.
The spokesman said the blaze was extinguished at 6:08pm.
