Four more people have been arrested following an incident where shots were reportedly fired.

Police received a report at 5.53pm on May 22 of shots being fired – possibly from an air weapon - in Marsh Road near Asda supermarket in Weymouth.

There were also reports of a number of men seen running from the scene.

A 54-year-old Weymouth man was previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and released under investigation.

A 32-year-old Portland man has now been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and has been released under investigation.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, both from Northamptonshire, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 21-year-old woman from Northamptonshire was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released under investigation.

As reported in the Echo, residents of Marsh Road reported hearing gun fire early in the evening of May 22.

Police, including armed response officers, were called to the scene.

A cartridge was found at the scene by officers who cordoned off part of Marsh Road and part of the ground floor of Asda’s multi-storey car park to allow crime scene investigators to examine the area.

Last Wednesday the lane from the Rodwell Trail leading to Prince of Wales Road was taped off by police.

Police conducted a thorough search of the cordoned area and an officer with a sniffer dog was also at the scene.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said the search was linked to the ongoing investigation in relation to the shots fired near Asda.
