Hundreds of runners will be hitting the streets of Weymouth for the town's half marathon tomorrow.

The event was originally due to take place in March but had to be rescheduled due to extremely bad and dangerous weather conditions.

With the event now expected to see much warmer weather, with highs of 21 degrees, participants will run through the town, able to enjoy a historical and scenic tour of its past and landscape.

For those who are not quite prepared for a half marathon, organisers Just Racing UK have introduced a 10k event to run alongside.

For the fourth year running the event will be supporting Weldmar Hospicecare, with runners also supporting charities of their own choosing.

Here is a map of all the road closures.

One team of runners will be raising money for People First Dorset.

The team includes former Echo journalist Catherine Bolado. She and People First Dorset staff member Lisa Dixon will be joined by Debbie Ward (chief executive of Dorset County Council), Matt Prosser (chief executive, Weymouth and Portland, North and West Dorset Council), Andrew Flockhart (chief executive, Borough of Poole Council) and Steve Mackenzie (chief executive, Purbeck District Council).

Cllr Ward said: “I love the work that People First Dorset do and met them several years ago when I first arrived in Dorset. Their work is really important for everyone they work and play with, for families and individuals. As chief executive of Dorset County Council, I get to meet and work with lots of organisations and some make a big impact when you meet them, People First Dorset made a huge impression. I love the fun they bring along with all the work they do.”

Member of the Friendship Club William, who also writes the weekly Our View column every Tuesday in the Echo added: “It’s great that Debbie and other important people are supporting us. The Friendship Club has changed my life. Before I had no friends and now I have lots. I am also doing things I would never have dreamt of, like helping organise a ball and being much healthier. Just last week they helped me make sure I get my annual health check."

The half marathon and 10k will marshalled throughout with feed stations and medical support.

There is a three hour cut-off time for the half marathon and no cut-off time for the 10k.
