Details of a development of 49 homes and eight industrial units at Warmwell Road, Crossways are expected to be approved this week.

The scheme, next to the Oaklands Park mobile home site at the junction of West Link Road and Warmwell Road, has already been accepted at the outline planning stage.

West Dorset planners, who meet on Thursday 21st, are now being recommended to accept the details of access, layout, scale and landscaping.

Crossways parish council has objected to the application “due to the lack of infrastructure and sustainability of the site” with similar views expressed by several of the 17 other objectors.

Other worries about the development include overlooking of existing properties, noise, the scale of a three storey block of flats and highway safety.

But Wessex Water, the highways officer and other statutory consultees have raised no objections and the district council’s planning officers are recommending approval.

If agreed the development will include a block of ten ‘affordable’ flats, eight of them two-bed and two one-bed, together with seven three-bed affordable homes. The rest of the development will mainly be made up of three-bed family homes.

The associated industrial units will be up to 1,024 square metres and will be limited to opening between 7am to 7pm on weekdays and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays with no deliveries, or collections, on Sundays or bank holidays.

Restrictions will also apply to working hours on the site during construction with suggested landscaping details to be agreed before work starts.
