Some of Dorset's most iconic sites are set for the small screen once more.

Secrets of the National Trust has returned for a second series, as presenters Alan Titchmarsh and Oz Clarke get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the country's most intriguing historic homes, gardens and monuments.

Among these will be Corfe Castle, the iconic ruins in the heart of Purbeck, and Kingston Lacy, the Italianate Manor House in East Dorset.

At Corfe Castle, Oz Clarke will learn about the Royalist Dame Mary Bankes, who died during the Civil War, defending Corfe Castle against a siege led by a 600-strong Parliamentary army - with a force of just 80 men.

Meanwhile at Kingston Lacy, Alan Titchmarsh will learn the story of Dame Mary's descendant William Bankes, an Egyptologist and aesthete who filled his family mansion with treasures while exiled abroad -0 but never got to see the home he lovingly created.

The episode featuring the two Dorset jewels will be broadcast on Wednesday, August 1, from 9pm.
