Weymouth town centre will come alive to the sound of music over the next two weekends

Weymouth and Portland Lions Club’s annual Street Busk is taking place on Saturday, July 28, running from 10am-3pm.

Raising funds for the Lions Charity Fund, the event sees a range of bands and musicians perform throughout the day.

This year the performances take place outside HSBC in St Mary Street.

The busk will be fronted by the band Replay.

Other performers include guitarists Matt Lock and Ken Watkins, crooner Tony Lowe, Brian Lincoln singing Irish songs, the Ukeholics, young singer Maisie Sheridan, saxophonists Karen Thornton and Annie Lewis, ‘Mr Tambourine Man’ Bill Solo and Replay featuring Annie Mac.

Shoppers are asked to give generously by dropping coins into the collection buckets.

Meanwhile, it’s the first Weymouth Big Busk event tomorrow, Saturday July 21, with a number of artists raising money for Weldmar Hospicecare at eight locations in St Thomas Street and St Mary Street from 10am to 4pm.

Musicians involved include Kipper, Farrago, Weymouth Concert Brass, Portland Community Choir, Minor Fret and Captain Monkey Fingers.
