A family will be swimming, walking and kayaking along the coast to raise money for a seven-year-old who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy.
Fay Edgar, her partner Roy Beal and her daughter Beth, have pulled together in efforts to raise £12,000 for seven-year-old Jack, who by the end of the year is expected to be in a wheelchair.
Fay, 42, will be swimming 75km from Lulworth Cove to Seaton in Devon, where Jack and his family live.
Jack is the son of a family friend who 46-year-old Roy originally met through work.
Fay is expecting to swim for up to 10 hours a day, with Roy kayaking alongside her.
Her 19-year-old daughter will be walking the coast path at the same time.
Fay, who lives in Maiden Newton, said: "We originally thought about swimming the Channel, but everyone does that and when we looked into it we realised it would cost about £3,000 which is money that could be put towards Jack.
"Our family expedition will hopefully take three days, with us camping overnight, but we could push into a fourth day. We'll be carrying everything we need in the kayak.
"I've been training since January, but I've never swam this far before. The furthest I have swam was 10k last year so it's a big challenge."
Fay added: "Jack is expected to be in a wheelchair by the end of the year. He loves going to the beach so we thought we would fund to buy him a new wheelchair that can be used on the beach. We also want to raise money for Jack to get a bath, both of which come to £12,000.
"Weather permitting we are all due to set off on Monday (23). We hope that people come out to the coast and wave. If you see a woman swimming and a man in a kayak, that's us.
"Jack and his family will also be coming out to support us."
