A Poundbury company has been popping the champagne after it was handed an award from Her Majesty The Queen.

One Team Logic, the safeguarding and child protection company, which was founded in Queen Mother Square, Poundbury in June 2014, was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise by the Lord Lieutenant for Dorset, Angus Campbell last week.

Damers First School organised a celebration afternoon of tea and cake to mark the occasion.

The company’s founding directors Martin Baker QPM, Mike Glanville and Darryl Morton received the Award for their innovative safeguarding software, MyConcern, following which they enjoyed a celebratory afternoon tea hosted by Damers First School. They were joined by Headteacher Catherine Smith, school staff and several other colleagues from One Team Logic to celebrate the Award. Also present were the school’s Junior Governors, who help to make decisions about the school, plan events and collect the ideas from all of the children across the school.

Martin Baker and Darryl Morton had recently attended a winner’s reception at Buckingham Palace where they had the privilege of meeting HRH The Prince of Wales, who was very interested in the achievements of the Poundbury-based business.

One Team Logic developed their safeguarding software to assist the people responsible for the wellbeing of the young and vulnerable (such as teachers) to be able to easily report and record concerns. With over 51,000 children in England being identified as needing protection from abuse and with a sharp increase of in recorded sexual offences against children, these are issues that schools and colleges are often the first to be made aware of.1

Martin Baker QPM, managing director for One Team Logic said: “It was a huge honour for us to receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise from the Lord Lieutenant for Dorset in a school that is so close to our Poundbury offices where our company was founded.

“To be able to celebrate this accolade with Damers School, that has been with us from the earliest of days and with our own staff and families is an enormous pleasure."
