A man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following a crash in Weymouth.

Buxton Road (A354) was closed in both directions after a car and a moped were involved in a crash on Tuesday evening. 

Police received a call from the ambulance service at around 5.20 pm to a report of a collision on Buxton Road near the junction with Winterbourne Copse.

An air ambulance landed at All Saints School.

Road closures were in place on Buxton Road from the junction with Rylands Lane and Cross Road, but all roads were reopened by 9.30 pm.

In an update Wednesday morning, police said one man, aged in his 20s, had been taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The injuries are however understood not to be life-changing or -threatening.

The collision, police added, involved a black Mazda 6 and a blue and black Peugeot scooter.
