The letter from Mr Parkhurst was illuminating. How marvellous to be able to foretell the future.

Not even Theresa May has been able to do that after nearly two years.

So Brexit is the will of the people, though hardly an overwhelming majority, given the lack of accurate information and honest knowledge.

As an ignorant Lib Dem, struggling to swim against the tide, I must confess the thought of all the shortages of food and services, through lack of immigrants who usually do these tasks, gives me the shivers.

The jobs will, of course, be filled by UK citizens, living and secure in this green and pleasant land - or will they?

The workers who remain after Brexit has made our country safe from foreign workers, taking our jobs? Brexit will return those long queues and strict rationing at ports and frontiers.

Remember them? Yeah, right.

As one who welcomed the entry into the EEC, I just feel despair, but experience is the best teacher, so let us allow Brexiteers to learn the hard lessons, and no regrets after they discover why we joined.

When fresh vegetables and no fish, shoddy goods and dependence on Trump’s American market make life real, let us give the Brexiteers a pat on the back and our sympathy.

Been there, lived through that.
