FAMOUS faces graced a town's lifeboat week celebrations.

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and his wife Emma visited the lifeboat station at Lyme Regis to meet the crew and volunteers.

Lord and Lady Fellowes, who live at West Stafford, also took to the sea in the harbour master's boat to start the tug-of-war contest with the mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Michaela Ellis.

Question Time host and keen sailor David Dimbleby also stopped by. He took a break at Lyme before sailing on to Dartmouth with son Henry.

The fundraiser at Lyme for the RNLI, finishes tonight with a firework display at The Cobb from 10pm.

Events have been happening all week to raise money for the branch including a lifeboat display, fun run and the tug-of-war between the lifeboat crew and the town's football team saw the footballers win two pulls to one.

Some events last weekend had to be postponed due to the heavy rain and high winds.

This included the swimming challenge and the bathtub race which were held later in the week.
