Passengers are warned there will be a reduced rail service on the Weymouth-Waterloo line again today due to another rail strike on South Western Railway (SWR).

The is the fourth 24-hour rail strike by the RMT union over the role of guards in just over a week. More are planned on the following two Saturdays and then a 48-hour strike at the end of the month.

As previously, an approximate hourly shuttle train service will run between Weymouth, Dorchester South and Bournemouth today. For onward travel, change at Bournemouth for connecting services towards Southampton and London.

The last departure from Weymouth to Bournemouth will be at 11.10pm (no connecting service to London). The last departure from Bournemouth is at 11.27pm arriving at Dorchester at 12.12am Upwey at 12.18am and Weymouth at 12.23am

Trains will not stop at Holton Heath today. There will also be no summer special train to Corfe Castle from Weymouth.

South Western Railway said a number of services had been added to the amended timetable from the previous Saturday, due to a greater availability of staff.

Passengers are strongly advised to check their journey before they travel.
