LIFEBOAT crews were called out last night to reports that a kite surfer and paddle boarder were suffering difficulties in Portland Harbour.

Weymouth RNLI inshore lifeboat launched at 9.15pm.

However by the time the Inshore lifeboat arrived on scene both the kite surfer and paddle boarder where just making their own way ashore.

The lifeboat crew volunteers took details and returned to Weymouth Harbour at 9.50pm.

RNLI Coxswain Andy Sargent said: "This incident turned out well for the two people concerned and they didn't need our help in the end, we would urge anyone seeing someone in trouble on the sea to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard and pass on as much information as they can about what they have seen."
