Eagle-eyed shoppers are on the lookout as something is amiss in Bridport.

The popular misplaced article competition is now underway – but there is still time to get involved.

The competition is part of Bridport Carnival’s celebrations and involves most of the town’s businesses. All participants have to do is find the odd object in each shop window.

With just over a week to go, the final preparations are being made for the big weekend.

A whole week of entertainment has been planned in the build-up to the fun-packed extravaganza.

On Tuesday, the carnival quiz will take place at the Ropemakers at 7.30pm. On Wednesday, family bingo will be held at Bridport Conservative Club, North Street, with eyes down at 8pm. Carnival darts will take place at 7.30pm on Friday, also at the club.

On carnival day, a fun fair will set up in West Street car park. The Wessex Military Band will perform in Bucky Doo Square in the morning and the procession will line up in West Street, West Allington, before moving off at 7pm.

The procession will be followed by live music from Mid Life Crisis in South Street and a family disco at Bridport Conservative Club.

On Sunday, the popular torchlight procession will return. Procession torches will be on sale from 6pm until 8.30pm at Bucky Doo Square and the procession will move off at 9pm, with a prompt to walk to West Bay.

There will be a bonfire on East Beach, followed by fireworks at 10.30pm.

Volunteers are still needed to help co-ordinate the procession and float and walking entries are needed for the procession. Schools, clubs and individuals are encouraged to get involved and take part.
