A generous donation has been made to a Dorchester group.

During Wendy Grassby's Presidential year at the Rotary Club of Poundbury, it managed to raise £1,000 and Wendy decided to donate the money to the Dorchester Opportunity Group.

The presentation was made by the new president of the club, Sue Adams as well as Wendy to Nyree Gibbs who accepted the cheque on behalf of the group.

The Dorchester Opportunity Group is a non-profit registered charity, established in 1993 to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for preschool children with a wide variety of additional needs and support for their parents, carers and siblings.

The Rotary Club of Poundbury regularly host events and raise money for a number of good causes.

The first fundraiser for the new Rotary year will be on Friday, September 7 at the Brownsword Hall in Poundbury, starting at 7pm.

The evening will see the return of the club’s slightly different quizzes.

There will be great prizes to be won, including wine, and there will also be a bar and nibbles provided.
