Time is running out to have your say on ward boundaries for the new super-council.

A public consultation on boundary proposals for Dorset Council will close on Monday, August 27.

Local government in Dorset is set to change next year with a new Dorset Council covering the western part of the county. The new council would replace Dorset County Council as well as East Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, Weymouth and Portland and West Dorset district councils.

To prepare for the establishment of the new council, the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England has drawn up proposals for new ward boundaries to be represented by each councillor.

A consultation on boundaries for the new neighbouring Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is running at the same time.

The Commission proposes that Dorset Council should have 82 councillors in total. The plans propose 30 one-councillor wards, 14 two-councillor wards and eight three-councillor wards.

Residents now have the chance to tell the Commission if they agree with the boundary proposals or if they can be improved to reflect local communities.
