Has the internet made bullying easier?

You can type anything and it is so easy to type something and hit send to hurt the person reading it.

Even if you say something as a joke you can still hurt someone.

I use social media and I mostly use Snapchat, and Instagram and fortunately I have not been bullied - either online or physically, but I know of people who have.

I believe even though there are positives of social media, there is also negatives.

There are people out there who you may have never spoken to who could one day message you, they can be anonymous and they can bully you if they so wish.

The impact of bullying on children is horrific. They are far more likely to have a low self-esteem, develop depression or anxiety, become isolated and be lonely. Sometimes they end the lives because of it.

I have seen first hand a group of people say things to a girl and call her nasty names.

I felt so upset and so sorry for her - I sometimes wish I had said “stop” or at least tried to help.

I myself have been told hurtful things. I have been told by other people someone has said something and shown screenshots of a conversation stating “Alice is ugly - don’t tell her”.

The person said he was joking but he still said it and I was hurt by it.

We must all do more, myself included.

If you see anyone getting bullied online try and help them, they will appreciate the support.

I hate bullying, and it is so sickening to know people out there can say things do things to hurt a person. Bullying needs to stop.
