Pothole repair teams have won praise from town councillors in Dorchester.

Several said the Dorset County Council system is working well with problem areas reported online, or by phone, getting dealt with in a matter of days.

County and town councillors Andy Canning told town councillors at their meeting on Tuesday that the feedback he had received was that the system was a success with most problem pot holes being rapidly dealt with – but he added that the council has an incentive to do so because once a hole had been reported the authority could be legally liable for any accident which might result.

Cllr Molly Rennie urged people to use the system to report problems as soon as possible. She said the experience in her ward was that the holes were being dealt with within a week.

Mayor David Taylor backed the claims of a speedy response: β€œIt does work. I had one which was dealt with within two days,” he said.
