Part of Dorchester Road will be closed from today until Monday for 'urgent' steel repairs to a railway bridge.

The county council has warned of delays while the road between Mercery Road and Roman Close is closed.

The repairs are being carried out by Network Rail on the bridge, which forms part of the road above the railway line.

Traffic will be diverted via Mercery Road, and access into Morrisons supermarket will be via the Manor Roundabout.

The same section of road will close again between March 21 - 25 for further work on the bridge to continue.

First Wessex said its number 10 bus service will be diverted while the road closure is in place.

The diversion route will be via Mercery Road, continue left onto Weymouth relief road to Manor Road roundabout, exit three into Dorchester Road, and vice versa.

Network Rail has been contacted for a comment.
