I HAVE just received the demand for next year’s council tax from Dorset Council: at £2,592, it works out at £50 a week.
I don’t mind paying taxes - these pay for the police, fire services, social care and libraries. I understand that.
But I see that a seven-bedroom Grade II listed house is on sale in Westminster for £17 million -and the council tax payable on that is £1,376, just over half the tax I pay on my humble Weymouth home.
Is this fair?
Why should I be subsidising millionaires in London?
