THE team behind a new Men's Shed project for Weymouth have found a venue.
Gaynam Lock, one of the organisers, said: "We have decided to stage the grand opening of the Weymouth Men's Shed at 10am at the Connect Centre, 5 Grosvenor Road, Weymouth on Wednesday, May 1.
"Hopefully by the time of opening the room that is affectionately known as 'the palace' will be equipped with a work bench running the length of the interior.
"I have requested a local dignitary to preside and I am trawling around at the moment for promotional material.
"Gosport Men's Shed have offered us some tools. I will also be seeking sponsorship."
Men's Sheds are charitable schemes aimed at uniting lonely men in doing something creative. They provide workshops and spaces to make things with tools and make new friends.
There are also Men's Sheds on Portland, in Wareham and Dorchester.
Weymouth members have been meeting at St Francis' Church, Littlemoor, during the coffee morning on Tuesdays.
