A HARVESTER was 'completely destroyed' in a fire.

At around 8pm yesterday evening, fire crews were alerted to reports of a large forage harvester vehicle on fire in a field off Nyland Lane, near Gillingham.

Crews from Gillingham and Shaftesbury fire stations went to the scene, along with a water carrier from Yeovil Fire Station.

Firefighters used two hose reel jets, two breathing kits and a water shuttle to extinguish the flames. The forage harvester was completely destroyed.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "Just after 8pm, Fire Control received several calls reporting a large forage harvester vehicle alight in a field off Nyland Lane, Nyland.
