DORCHESTER Town owner Eddie Mitchell has been left "disappointed" by the resignations of Nick Cartmell and Paul Harris from the club's board of directors.

The duo stepped down as board members this week and Mitchell was sad to see them go.

He told Echosport: "It's a surprise and I'm disappointed to lose them because I don't want to lose anyone from the board.

"I can't do much about it because people are free to come and go as they wish. Nick and Paul didn't leave because I asked them to though."

Cartmell joined as a club director in November 2006 while Harris was appointed in April last year.

Harris, owner of Sam Scaffolding Ltd in Dorchester, told Echosport he left for "personal reasons" but did not wish to divulge any further, adding "what's happened in the board room should stay there."

Cartmell meanwhile, who is managing director of Waterlooville based company Southern Sealed Units & Glass Ltd, believes his departure will not affect the club financially.

He said: "From a financial point of view me leaving won't make a blind bit of difference because my com-pany will continue to sponsor Dorchester Town as will other sponsors I have helped attract to the club.

"Living in Portsmouth makes it difficult to understand everything that is going on at the club and it takes me two hours to get to a board meeting so if I can't make it then I'm not able to air my views.

"There's been a lot of changes at the club but Paul Compton, Shaun Brooks and Eddie Mitchell need time, Rome wasn't built in a day. I've got no bad feelings towards anyone at the club and I believe the club is in safe hands."

Magpies' chairman Eddie Belt confirmed the outgoing pair left the Avenue Stadium amicably.

He said: "Nick and Paul left by mutual consent and from what I understand it's because they couldn't put the time into the club that they would have liked. They are also very busy men work-wise.

"Both of them will still be conn-ected to the club and will continue to help raise money for the club."
