A MAN died on Chesil Beach following a medical incident which prompted a response from the emergency services.

Rescue teams attended the scene - at the Portland end of the beach - but sadly the man could not be saved.

Dorset Police confirmed they received a report at around 10pm last Thursday from the ambulance service of a 'suspected medical incident'.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers attended and it was subsequently reported that a man had sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner was notified.”

Wyke and Portland Bill’s Coastguard teams, Weymouth & Portland Police, South Western Ambulance Service and Lyme Regis Lifeboat all attended the incident.

South Western Ambulance Service said crews were called at 9.39pm about a ‘serious incident’.

Wyke Coastguard was asked at 10.21pm to help locate a casualty on the beach with teams standing down just before midnight.
