TWO live performances from the Royal Opera House and a selection of popular festive films will be screened at a school theatre in Dorset next month.

Bryanston School’s Coade Hall is inviting the community along to get in the festive spirit during the countdown to Christmas.

Families and local people from across the area will have the opportunity to watch live performances of the Royal Ballet’s The Nutcracker and Puccini’s Tosca opera.

In the six days before Christmas the school will screen both matinee and evening performances of 12 Christmas movie favourites, including sing-along performances of Frozen and The Greatest Showman - where children are invited to come along in fancy dress - as well as White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf and Love Actually.

Bryanston’s Coade Hall, in Blandford, features the largest screen in North Dorset and benefits from a full surround sound audio system.

Mulled wine, popcorn, hot dogs and other refreshments will be available for guests.

Tickets cost £7.50 for adults and £5.50 for children, which includes a 50p online booking fee.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone living in the area to enjoy world-class live screenings and heart-warming classic Christmas movies at North Dorset’s largest and best-equipped theatre,” says James Henshaw, Coade Hall’s Technical and Production Manager.

“Until now, restrictions arising from the pandemic have prevented us from building on the tremendous success of the earlier live performances from the Royal Opera House, so I’m delighted we are now able to open our doors – and curtains - again for the local community. The films we’ve selected provide something for everyone, whatever their age, and everyone can be sure of warm festive welcome to Bryanston. What could be better than watching your favourite Christmas films on the big screen in a great entertainment venue that’s right on your doorstep?”
