A GROUP of schoolchildren were transported to another galaxy to star gaze during a special demonstration for Science Week.
The space expedition took place as part of St Nicholas and St Laurence Primary School's Science Week.
A mobile planetarium from Science Dome let the children watch shooting stars and experience what it would be like to land on another planet.
Classes of children aged from 4 -11 sat mesmerised inside the 13ft high mobile dome and watched a projected 3D video that gave them a grand tour of the solar system.
Geologist and co-owner of Science Dome Neil Carrington said: "The main thing is to show that science is fun and by star gazing children can discover science and think outside the box.
"It's more of a science show because the children get to see different planets and a 3D show which brings everything to life."
Year six pupil Lilly Sherrett, 11, said the show was lots of fun and she especially liked seeing how astronauts could walk on the moon.
She added: "The stars were almost coming down at us and then moving away slowly like we were really in space."
Throughout the rest of the Science Week pupils will take part in various active experiments designed to make science fun.
