WEYMOUTH teenager Seb Green is taking a well-earned rest from his round-Britain payback' walk.
Supporters say the 18-year-old from Littlemoor is doing remarkably well, having covered 630 miles in seven weeks.
He is almost a month ahead of schedule but is now resting for a few days on a campsite near Whitby, North Yorkshire, while his dog Flash recovers from a leg injury.
The border collie needed emergency treatment after suffering a deep cut jumping over a barbed wire fence.
"I'm sort of glad the dog decided to injure himself because four inches of snow is forecast for the next few days," Seb said.
He added: "He's got a two inch-long flesh wound which the vet stitched up but he can't walk for five days so we're high and dry."
Seb, who started his walk from Weymouth on February 1, is raising money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Starlight Children's Foundation.
In 2005 he had to be rescued from deep mud after taking a boat from Weymouth Harbour and ending up in difficulties.
He planned the 5,000-mile walk to give something back' after turning his life around and getting on a Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award scheme.
After a magnificent start covering up to 25 miles a day, Seb admitted his pace had slowed recently due to an injured knee. But he hopes to get up to 18 miles a day after Middlesbrough.
He is expected to reach the Scottish border in two weeks' time.
Seb said: "I feel very pleased with what I've accomplished so far but I'm still apprehensive."
DofE Award officer for Dorset Mary Harper, who is leading Seb's support network, said: "Seb was on a bit of a low as he crossed the Humber because he suddenly realised the enormity of what he was taking on.
"I think the problem was that he was pushing himself and not taking in what was around him.
"However, in the last week he's got into his stride again and taking time to enjoy the scenery."
Mrs Harper said Seb will take a two-week break from his walk at the end of April so he can complete his TA training at Catterick.
