THERE IS now only one year left until the digital switchover for televisions in West Dorset.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 the Stockland Hill transmitter group which serves West Dorset and neighbouring counties will be leading the switchover in the West Country television region.
Regional manager of Digital UK in the South West Bill Taylor said: "The switchover to digital television in the West Country is now 12 months away and we want to make as many people aware as possible.
"Our research shows that many people in the West Country have already converted or know they will need to make sure their televisions are set up to receive a digital signal."
During 2009 five TV transmitters in the West Country will switch to digital signals so that freeview channels will be available in the region for the first time. This means that nearly a million households will be able to receive digital services via their aerial.
Information leaflets will soon be delivered to every home in West Dorset detailing the changes.
To check if your area can receive a digital signal already visit www.digitaluk.co.uk and for more details of the digital switchover contact 08456 505050.

Has anyone in an official capacity made this aware to the various housing associations and landlords in the West Dorset area in charge of buildings with a communal aerial system as regard to them upgrading?
Existing aerial installations are near useless for digital unless of a wide band hygain variety or you live on top of the transmiter.
