Bridport look for repeat performance

BRANKSOME v

BRIDPORT

BRIDPORT travel to Branksome tomorrow (2pm) hoping to repeat the performance that brought victory over Pavilion Sports last weekend.

A much-improved team effort enabled Bridport to register their first victory in Dorset Funeral Plan Division Two against one of the league's fancied sides.

Application with the bat and consis-tency with the ball were the key attributes Bridport produced, and skipper Chris Backhouse is optimistic that his players can continue to progress and climb the league ladder.

He said: "We put on a really good performance last week so I'm looking for another to get the same result.

"Branksome weren't that strong last year and everybody was buzzing after our victory so we're confident we can improve again and make our way up the table."

Opener Matt Sherring replaces Mark Tozer, who is suffering from a niggle, but otherwise an unchanged line up is named.

Although Backhouse was delighted with his players' response to their opening day reverse, he is urging his side to become more merciless in the field.

Pavilion Sports appeared dead and buried at one stage last weekend, but a spirited rearguard reduced the margin of victory and flattered the hosts.

"We're lacking that killer instinct at the moment but that will come with the more confidence we get from winning matches," explained Backhouse.
