TV firm demanded a death certificate - and still I've heard nothing

12:36pm Thursday 17th July 2008

I REFER to the story Apology to widow over TV distress' (Echo, July 1) regarding Setanta Sports who demanded a death certificate before it would cancel a subscription.

The same thing happened to my mum. My father died on April 26 and I contacted Setanta by email on April 30, asking for the subscription to be cancelled.

I had a reply saying it would be passed to the correct department and that I would hear within five working days - I'm still waiting.

I decided to telephone and after a long wait I was put through to a lady who said they could not do anything without a copy of the death certificate being sent to them, This I did with an accompanying letter on May 19 - still we have not heard anything.

Perhaps they would like to explain to my mum as well why it is so difficult to cancel a £9.99 a month subscription when they were quick enough to take it.
