  • THIS is just a last minute reminder about the old-time country string band, the Buffalo Gals, in Briantspuddle village hall on Saturday, September 13 at 7.30pm.

  • THE next book Swap is on Saturday, September 13 at 10am in Briantspuddle Village Hall.

Don't forget to return any books, talking books or DVDs that you have finished with please.

There will be also be a gardeners' market at the same time for you to sell any surplus vegetables, fruit or plants that you may have.

It would be helpful if stalls could be set up before 10am.

Computers and free access to the internet will be available from 10.30am onwards for anyone to use and mentors will be on hand to help you get started or sort out any problems that out may have.

  • THERE will be a Coffee Morning in the Social Club on Saturday, September 13 from 10.30am in aid of Julia's House Hospice.
  • THE social club is in need of extra help with running the bar.

  • ON SATURDAY, October 18 at 7.30pm, Briantspuddle village hall will be showing the film Happy Go Lucky as part of the Purbeck film festival. This certificate 15 is an upbeat film from Mike Leigh and is the story of a teacher who faces all sorts of vicissitudes with a cheerful air.

  • BRIANTSPUDDLE village hall committee and Bladen social club combines to present a Christmas concert in the village hall on Friday, December 12. The concert is by Striding Edge, Cumbria's best-established ceilidh band.

  • GRANTS from the William Frampton Educational Foundation are available for young people living in the parishes of Affpuddle, Briantspuddle and Moreton who are undergoing further or higher education or apprenticeships, or a period of training of any other description, and who are in need of financial assistance for the purchase of books, travelling to and from school or college or payment for accommodation.

Applications for grants in 2008/2009 must be received before October 31.

  • THE Pop in Place is to join in with the world's biggest coffee morning on Friday, October 26 from 10am until noon at the Drax Hall.

The world's biggest coffee morning is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, so come along and raise your cup to create and huge stir and improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
