DORCHESTER Town Football Club are all set to host another action-packed boxing show at their Jewson Stadium home.

The Autumn Tournament, which takes place this Saturday on the county town pitch, is being held in conjunction with Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club and there is expected to be between 14 and 18 bouts on show.

Some of the best boxers in the South, not to mention 10 county town members, will take to the ring with the action set to get underway at 8pm.

Ben Geyser, of Dorchester ABC, said: "The success of past Dorchester tournaments is a testimony of the high standard of boxing skills and courage displayed by all the boxers.

"Saturday night promises to be another belter with boxers coming from all over the South to put on a superb show for our entertainment.

"The line-up and form of the boxers suggest that this tournament should outclass all its predecessors. Explosive action is expected in the four bouts of the first leg of the ABA group 92/93 Championships.

"For these boxers, if they win each stage, there is a chance of a crack at the ABA finals.

"We'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Henry Bowering on passing his judge's course and thank Trevor Williams who will be the show's MC."

Dorchester Town safety officer Geoff Claridge said: "It's always a pleasure to help out Dorchester ABC.

"We've had a good relationship with them and long may it continue with another similar event coming up in the not too distant future.

"I'm sure it'll be a great evening just like those we've hosted before."

There will also be a hog roast as well as special drinks promotions on lager and cider.

The entrance fee for the evening is £10 for adults and £5 for under-18s, all payable at the gate, which opens at 6.30pm.
