No stopping super Sidcup

Sidcup Rugby Club under-12s is on the crest of wave after winning another major tournament.

Two weeks ago we reported on their superb win in the Old Elthamians' Festival and last week the club went to compete in the Thurrock Festival .... and you get no brownie points for guessing who won.

The under-12s scored another amazing victory in their age group beating some of the best mini rugby teams from Essex and Sussex in the process.

As group winners, beating Brentwood, Worthing and Thurrock, they defeated Upminster in the semi-final earn the right to play Romford in the final.

The tournament ran rather later than expected and the final was played in semi-darkness. However, the Sidcup boys still managed to play brilliantly and win by three tries to nil.

But the incredible fact is that yet again, as at Foxbury, they did not concede a single try throughout the tournament. In fact, the team has not been defeated or even conceded a single try since the season started in September how's that for a record!

Many of the team have been together since their under-nine days and are continuing to build on their achievements and improve their skills through hard work, structured training and coaching from Andy Hind, Jim Edwards, Ian Anderson and Daniel Taylor.

Despite their great success, the team is still without a sponsor. If yo would like to be involved with a top mini rugby team, call Denise Edwards on 0208 309 9613 (after 5pm) or leave a message on 07810 304207.
