PARENTS have spoken out at the first consultation meeting about the proposed closure of Wool First School.
They called for the plan to close the school under a Dorset County Council shake-up of schools to be looked at again.
The Purbeck Review held the meetings about the proposals.
There were three presentations made by the team.
The first was to the school’s teachers and support staff. There was one for the school’s governors and one for the parents.
About 60 parents attended the meeting.
The Save our School campaign group chairman Andrew Wilson said after the meetings: “We feel that the Purbeck Review team certainly heard and understood the arguments that were advanced by parents, staff and governors at Wool CE First School.
“We were encouraged by the genuineness of the consultation process.
“Although it’s very early days in the process, we hope that collectively we’ve been able to put across a strong case for our school staying open, and we’re very grateful for the support that our campaign is receiving.”
The next visit to Wool by the Purbeck Review team will be on January 19 to brief the parish council.
There will be a public meeting on January 21 at The D’Urberville Hall in Colliers Lane starting at 7pm.
