PUPILS and staff at Southill Primary School were visited by their link school, St Paul's Primary, from Tower Hamlets, London.

All the children and staff had a brilliant time together.

  • SOUTHILL Primary School won the small schools netball tournament held at Budmouth School recently.

The event was organised by Jo Ray and the community support leader students at the school. Southill beat St Augustine's in a keenly fought final, winning 1-0.

  • THE First Radipole Guides are ‘singing for change’ on Tuesday March 31, raising money for WaterAid.

From 5.45pm until 7pm in St Aldhelm’s Church Hall, they plan to present a varied programme of songs and drama with refreshments.

  • THE next coffee morning at St Augustine’s Church Hall, Dorchester Road, is on Saturday, April 4.

From 10.30am ‘til noon, entrance at 50p includes coffee and biscuits.

There are plenty of items for sale to interest all, including fantastic homemade cakes, books and bric-a-brac.

  • ALSO on Saturday, April 4, there is a special fair at St. Aldhelm’s, in aid of the Weymouth Trefoil Guild.

This is part of the Girl Guide Centenary celebrations which begin in September.

Guides have been challenged to ‘change the world’, so throughout the UK Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and the adults are choosing from 19 different projects.

The Weymouth Trefoil Guild has chosen to support Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.

At this spring fair, the girls will have their own stalls to raise money for their various projects and they will be raising money for the hospice with bric-a-brac, cake stalls and serving refreshments.

  • THERE is a special flood meeting at Southill Community Centre on Tuesday, April 7 starting at 5pm.

Council officers have been investigating the causes of the recent flooding in Southill and will share their findings with everyone affected.

There have been different causes attributed to the floods that have naturally been of great concern in the neighbourhood, so it will be interesting to hear answers to residents’ questions and possible strategies for prevention of similar problems in future.
