Michael Jackson celebration added to Lakeside Magic

A TWO-HOUR celebration of the music of Michael Jackson has been added to this year’s Lakeside Magic extravaganza.

The four-day musical event, which takes place at Kingston Maurward, near Dorchester, will now include two hours of the King of Pop’s best videos shown on two huge LED screens.

They will be screened on the last night, Sunday, July 12, from 5pm and at 7.30pm the main act of the night, the ELO Experience, will take to the stage. The gates will open at 4pm to allow people to gather and enjoy picnics.

Lakeside Magic organiser Alan Mcnamee said: “We are going to push out all the stops for this tribute.

“We thought it was the appropriate thing to do.

“We have had a fantastic response, from children through to OAPs and I think it will be a fantastic night. It will be a celebration of Michael Jackson’s music, not a memorial of his death.”

Lakeside Magic runs from Thursday to Sunday, July 9 to 12, at Kingston Maurward College, near Dorchester. It consists of four nights of tribute acts.

Hmm the cynic in me says this is just a cheap stunt to boost low ticket sales.

If that really is the case, then it's a pretty low stoop...

Another reason not to go. :-)

Covers bands are 2 a penny in the pubs around the area. They are generally excellent and no charge to see them.

£25 per adult ticket (with 2 free children admitted per paying adult) per night.

So, average family of 4 will be charged £50 per night. If you wanted to attend all 4 nights, that would be an eye watering £200!

What insane prices to charge when (as Sidney pointed out) you can watch very good bands locally for nothing in pubs and clubs etc.

Reality check time Kingston Maurward. Why not make the prices cheaper- more people will attend!
