ACHIEVEMENTS of students were recognised and applauded at two awards afternoons held at the Royal Manor Arts College on Portland.

Town Mayor Richard Paisley, parents, governors and guests attended and heard head teacher Paul Green tell his students: “School does not finish at 16 years of age – it goes on through life so take all the opportunities on offer.

“With the Olympic vision coming closer, we live in very exciting times.”

He outlined the many achievements earned by the college this year, mentioning in particular the Future Vision Award and that the RMAC was judged the best school in the country for developing boys’ speech and drama based on the last three years’ results.

Medals, effort and progress and high achievement certificates were presented to four students from each year group by their learning directors and trophies were presented by special guests.

Entertainment was provided by Arran Jung, Year 9 girls’ dance group, the college wind group, Jessica Lewis and the Singing Group.
