GHOSTBUSTERS are holding their first paranormal probe at the historic Nothe Fort in Weymouth.

Paranormal Tours is holding the ghost hunt at the attraction with special equipment to spot ghosts and signs of supernatural activity.

Organiser Andrew Marsay said: “The event will start at 7pm and last until 2.30am.

“Although staying awake until 2.30am may sound difficult, with a full programme of activities, and the potential for ghostly experiences, there is unlikely to be a dull moment.”

The paranormal investigators will use meters to measure changes in frequency, thermometers, motion detectors, and devices to record ‘electronic voice phenomena’ on October 10.

The Whistling Gunner is the best known ghost at the Nothe Fort.

The phantom has a passageway dedicated to him.

Other spectres include a white figure seen walking the parapets of the fort when it is locked. Mr Marsay added: “We are really excited and privileged at the prospect of investigating it.

“Sceptics and believers alike tend to leave our events with far more questions than when they arrive.

“Whether people join the investigation to indulge an existing interest, satisfy their curiosity or see it as a personal challenge to stay in a haunted castle for a night, this investigation will be an experience not to be missed.”

It is the first Paranormal Tours ghostly investigation at Nothe Fort.

Nothe Fort administration manager Steven Booth said: “A lot of paranormal groups are coming out of the woodwork for a chance to spend a few hours of darkness in the Fort’s ghostly atmosphere.”

“Many people firmly believe there are unexplained ghostly happenings and these organised investigations hope to expose some of the Fort’s darker secrets.”

During the event, participants are given an introductory workshop and training in the equipment they will use for conducting experiments.

All ghosthunters are invited to bring their own digital cameras and night vision equipment to assist them.

Mr Marsay added: “To maintain objectivity, the medium that will be joining the event has never visited Nothe Fort before.

“Also, they will not be told to which property they are going to ensure advance research can not be carried out which could prejudice the investigation.“ The Hampshire-based company specialises in hosting ghost hunts in well known haunted locations nationwide.

It uses experienced investigators to examine strange and unexplained goings-on at many of the country’s famous haunted properties.

Places cost £59 per person and include all activities, use of equipment plus refreshments throughout the night. Call 0871 288 4036 for details.
