TEENAGER Toby Hepworth will be dressing in drag tomorrow night to take part in a charity Midnight Walk with hundreds of women.

The 18-year-old, who has been renamed Tabitha for the occasion, hopes to look the part in the ladies-only event with his pink tutu, full-make-up, ballet pumps, wig and waxed legs.

His extreme makeover is in honour of the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and since he joined his hairdressing colleagues’ fundraising team, donations have been flooding in.

Tabitha and five women from Coast Hair and Beauty in Park Street, Weymouth, will be walking 10 kilometres along the Esplanade from the Pavilion to the Riviera Hotel, Bowleaze Coveway and back again. They will be among nearly 1000 women taking part.

Salon co-owner Paula Cotton, Feebe Baker, Abby Carnon, Vera Richards and Natasha Wilkins will also be dressed in pink tutus and the official Midnight Walk T-shirts for the occasion.

Mrs Cotton said: “We’re doing it as a team. We couldn’t register him as Toby so he had to be Tabitha.

“He’s dressing up as a woman and having his legs waxed, all for a good cause.

“It’s unbelievable, since people have found out he’s doing it, we’ve had so many sponsors. We’ve raised about £300 so far and hope to raise as much as we can.”

She added: “We’ve had some clients that are going through cancer and it just brought it home a little bit.

“It’s a way to thank our clients for being lovely and to support the charity that’s helping them.

“These clients have been coming to the salon for a long time and we don’t want to lose them.

“Hairdressers aren’t just for people with hair, we’re also here for people without hair or who are losing hair.

“We can help them with wigs and make them look as nice possible.”

Stewards are still required to assist at Weymouth Pavilion for tomorrow night’s walk, anyone wishing to volunteer is asked to contact Weldmar on 01305 215315.
