THE Southill Preservation Society held its ‘Green Fete’ on the greens fronting Radipole Lane and in the Community Centre.

Classic cars and Military vehicles lined the front of both greens and a fire engine gave a display in the car park, allowing children to climb on board.

Fun, games and entertainment from Captain Stupid kept young and old amused.

The Nothe Fort Volunteer Artillery put on a parade with drummers, while the Guardians of the Old Town Hall exhibited history along with plans for the Hall’s restoration and future.

There was also an opportunity to be photographed in the stocks.

Tombola was run by Kidz Are Us pre-school who donated all profits to the society.

There was a host of stalls and Westham Community Group raised funds selling copies of the book, Westham Over the Bridge of Time.

Meanwhile, over in the Community Centre, there was an historical display of Radipole and Southill, with an exhibition of local art by Weymouth Art Group.

Society organisers thank all who supported this hugely successful event, including local businesses:- Tidings Newsagents, Shampers of Southill and Angel Pharmacy, who contributed to the raffle and the barbecue hosted by the John Gregory.

MEMBERSHIP of the Society is open to all residents of Southill and Radipole village and costs £5 per household per year.
