A HUSBAND rushed to be at his wife’s side as she was cut free from her car following a two vehicle collision in Weymouth.
The 51-year-old woman, from Dorchester, was cut free from her Renault Megane outside Dorset Vehicle Rentals on Dorchester Road, Upwey, after complaining of back pain, police said.
The road was closed for two hours as she was removed from the vehicle on a spinal board and taken away by ambulance.
Janet Blakey from Broadwey Village Stores first noticed the emergency services just before 7pm.
She said: “There were police everywhere near the veterinary clinic and it looked quite nasty.
“There were two fire engines and they shut the road off.”
PC John Watson, of Dorset Police, said the Renault Megane was involved in a collision with a Ford Mondeo being driven by a man from Bridport aged in his 50s.
He said: “She was in front heading in the direction of Weymouth with the Mondeo behind.
“The lady was on her own but her husband was not far away and made it to the scene.
“She has a previous medical condition for her back.
“She had some back pains so as a precaution the car was cut away to safely remove her with a spinal board.”
PC Watson appealed for anybody who saw the accident which happened at approximately 6.50pm to call him on 01305 222222.
