SWIMMERS Bob Holman and Dave Pratten will be rubbing shoulders with actor Robson Green in a television show tomorrow.

The duo took the plunge with the star for his two-part Wild Swimming Adventure programme to be screen on ITV1.

Mr Pratten, who swam every outdoor pool in the country with Mr Holman last year for Save the Children, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing the show.

“Hopefully it should raise the profile of Save the Children as well.”

He added: “It was an interesting experience to be part of the filming.

“I’ve seen the trailers and they played back bits of filming on the day.

“But it will be the first time we’ll have seen all of it. Apparently, we will feature near the start of the first programme.” The show follows Mr Green as he attempts to realise his father’s dream of swimming in the sea to Holy Island on the coast of Northumberland.

He meets Mr Holman and Mr Pratten at the Tinside lido in Plymouth where they give him some advice before he joins them for a swim.

He then progresses to tidal pools around the country before tackling open water swims and the final challenge of Holy Island.

Mr Pratten, 56, of Swanage, is a former national open water swimming champion and Mr Holman, 64, of Affpuddle, is a former Channel swimmer.

The duo visited 99 pools nationwide, from Cornwall to Scotland, last year and raised about £3,000 for Save the Children.

They were first called in as advisors for Mr Green and the programme but producers then decided to feature them at the Plymouth lido.

Mr Pratten said: “Mr Green was a very nice and genuine chap.

“He had endless patience – there were lots of filming takes.”

Robson Green’s Wild Swimming Adventure programme is on ITV1 tomorrow and on Tuesday, December 15, at 9pm.
