EYEWITNESSES described the dramatic scenes as officers swooped on several Weymouth properties during yesterday’s drug raids.

Postman Martyn Hepworth witnessed the Swallow Court raid while he was working.

He said: “I deliver to Swallow Court and I park my post trolley underneath the archway to the flats.

“When I’d finished I couldn’t get my trolley out because the police van was blocking the entrance.

“I saw a number of police officers rush in and I heard all the shouting and the crash of the door going in.”

Mike Jolliffe, who works in Weymouth TV Centre a few doors from the raid, added: “Drug raids are normal round here.”

A resident of Swallow Court said he saw four or five police officers in the communal hallway.

A Crescent Street resident, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The officers were here from around 10am.

“There were about three vans and three police cars at first and there must have been around 17 or 18 officers in all.

“I had just got home from dropping the children off at school.

“I’ve lived here for around a year and I’ve never seen anything like this going on in the area.”
