FIVE men have appeared in court following Monday’s operation to smash the supply of Class A drugs in Weymouth.

An undercover police officer bought drugs as part of the covert operation, Weymouth magistrates were told.

One of the men appearing before magistrates has been charged with stealing £35,000-worth of jewellery from a house in the town.

The raids by Dorset Police came as part of Operation Dismantle to disrupt the supply network of Class A drugs in the area.

Stuart Ellacott, prosecuting, said it began in 2009 to target the supply of heroin and crack cocaine and involved an undercover officer making ‘test purchases’.

Among those appearing before the court from custody yesterday was Marcus Phillip Jackson, aged 36, of Swallow Court, Abbotsbury Road, who pleaded guilty to supplying 766 milligrams of diamorphine (heroin).

Jackson, who Mr Ellacott described as a ‘runner’, sold a wrap of the drug for £40 to an undercover officer after a meeting in Cromwell Road.

Jackson was remanded in custody and will appear at Dorchester Crown Court on March 5 for sentencing.

Nicolas Paul Worthy, aged 36, of Hanover Road, Weymouth, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing diamorphine and 11 other offences of supplying Class A substances.

Mr Ellacott said the supply charges relate to selling deals priced at £25 each to the test purchase officer.

Worthy was remanded in custody and will appear at Dorchester Crown Court on March 5 for sentencing.

Philip Mark Pavey, aged 40, of Perth Street, Weymouth, entered no pleas to seven charges of supplying diamorphine.

Pavey was remanded in custody and is due to be committed to Crown Court on March 23.

Paul Mao, aged 49, of Kellaway Court, Grangecroft Road, Portland, entered no pleas to two charges of supplying diamorphine. Mao was remanded in custody to be committed to Crown Court on March 23.

Duane Barber, 36, of Swallow Court, Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth, entered no pleas to a charge of theft of jewellery worth £35,000 from a house in Symonds Close, Weymouth, and three of supplying diamorphine.

Barber was remanded in custody to be committed to Crown Court on March 23. A sixth man is expected to appear in court at a later date.
