AUTHOR Terry Deary will be in Dorchester to help draw up Horrible History-style stories about Dastardly Dorset.

He will be at the Dorset County Museum on Wednesday, February 17, signing copies of his Horrible Histories books as part of a special events day during half term.

The High West Street attraction is holding various activities during the day as part of its involvement in the British Museum and the BBC’s A History of the World (AHOTW) project.

Museum spokesman Rachel Cole said: “Terry will be in the museum from 10am to 11am, helping with the activities and signing copies of his books. “Younger visitors will be encouraged to choose an object from the museum and use their imagination to create a story around it. “Copies will then be taken and put together to make a Horrible Histories-style book entitled Dastardly Dorset which will be displayed in the museum.”

From 1pm onwards on February 17, junior members from the Museum Club will be working on a ‘virtual museum’ project.

Visitors can choose their favourite artefact and write a label or a story about it, and the Museum Club will add it to the museum’s website. From 1pm to 3pm museum curators will be on hand in the Victorian Hall to help identify ‘mystery’ objects or unidentified works of art. The events are open to all and the museum will be free of charge for the entire day.
