Frampton Footlights in search of antlers

A VILLAGE drama group is on the hunt for a set of antlers.

Frampton Footlights are busy rehearsing for their upcoming production of comedy thriller A Tomb with a View and are looking for a finishing touch to their set.

The set designers are recreating a dusty old library in an old mansion to provide a fitting backdrop to the sinister murder mystery by Norman Robbins.

But the scene builders have been stumped in their quest to find a set of antlers to hang on the wall to complete the authentic country home feel of the set.

The Frampton Footlights are now appealing directly to any Echo readers who may be able to leap to their aid and lend them some antlers for the production.

Director David Hooper said: “We have searched high and low for a set of antlers and so far have not been successful – such a prop to hang on the wall would help set the scene dramatically.

“We are appealing to ‘deer’ readers of the Echo to help us.”

Additions to the set so far include a portrait of the deceased father of the Tomb family and a fireplace donated for the production by The Fireplace Centre at Millers Close, Dorchester.

Anyone who is able to provide a set of antlers will be given free tickets to watch the production.

Mr Hooper said the show promises to be a ‘whodunnit’ style murder mystery with a comic touch.

He said: “It is a balance between comedy and thriller, there are funny bits and more macabre bits.”

Mr Hooper also praised the community spirit in Frampton.

Performances are on March 18, 19 and 20 at Frampton Village Hall, with tickets available by calling 01300 320607.

Anyone with a spare set of antlers is asked to contact Mr Hooper on 07739 589221.
