Dorchester nurse Susan O’Flanagan is celebrating her 50th year by running the London Marathon.
Susan has decided to take part in the great slog through the capital in April to support the Dorchester YMCA which her 12-year-old daughter Holly attends to do gymnastics.
She has taken the spirit of fundraising to heart by insisting on no presents for her birthday, but sponsorship towards her marathon run instead as she aims to raise £1,500.
Susan, a nurse at Dorset County Hospital, is a keen runner and is a member of Weymouth St Paul’s Harriers Athletics Club.
She said: “I am very pleased to have this opportunity to run the London Marathon and especially pleased to be able to support the work of our YMCA.”
YMCA gymnastics coach Sam Welch said: “We are keen to give Susan all the help we can in preparing for this awesome challenge.”
