WEYMOUTH policewoman Simone Tate is helping her big sister Zoe do her bit for charity – by arresting her.

Taekwondo instructor Zoe is taking part in a fundraising ‘jailbreak’ to raise cash for a military appeal on Saturday.

Her three-woman team, who will be dressed as convicts, will have 15 hours to beg, borrow and steal their way from Perth, Scotland to Dorset – a 500-mile jaunt.

Detention officer Simone, 31, will be waiting to throw them into the cells at Weymouth police station if the intrepid escapees succeed.

New mum Simone said: “The idea is, because I live and work here, they are going to be ‘re-arrested’ in Weymouth.

“It’d make for a great finale – and some cracking photographs of my sister in the cells – if they make it.”

The ‘Prison Break’-style stunt is staged every year by Grey Lodge Settlement in Dundee to raise money for charity.

The teams have to get as far as they can in the allotted time – without spending any money – and Zoe is hoping to reach Weymouth.

As the fundraisers – who are planning on travelling by train – will be wearing full convict costumes, Simone has agreed to lock them up if they prevail.

Simone, who joined Dorset Police five years ago, said: “Zoe sent an email with all the details, which I showed my inspector to see if we could get involved.

“He said I could put them in the cells. It’s a Saturday, though, so they might be full up.”

Zoe’s team will be going head-to-head with an all-male outfit, led by fellow instructor Robert Dolan, from her Dundee-based martial arts club Z & R Taekwondo.

She is hoping to raise as much as possible for the chosen military charity The Black Watch Heritage Appeal and her own club.

Zoe, 33, said: “In the past, some people have ended up as far away as Tunisia. I’m just hoping to make it to Weymouth, so I can see Simone and her new baby, who’s only a few months old.

“We’ve started plotting but it’s proving to be a bit of a nightmare. Perth to Weymouth is a long way, but that’s part of the challenge.

“It could be interesting to be arrested by my own sister – I’m not sure I’ve really thought that part through to be honest!”
